What is a Fuh-Q-Fest?

A Fuh-Q-Fest is a fanfiction festival dedicated to stories and art (oftentimes smutty) focusing on one character or pairing. I was first introduced to Fuh-Q-Fests by the Severus Snape FQF in the Harry Potter fandom, although the first FQF was for Star Trek's Spock. For more information on FQFs, check out Fanlore.

Why an Auron FQF?

Besides being popular, a badass (yep.), and resurrected in other game franchises, Auron is simply sexy. He is a man of few words, a tireless guardian, and a loyal friend. Some argue that his dedication to honor makes him one of the most un-sexual characters in the game. Doesn't that entitle him to a little bit of action? There can never be too much Auron fic or art out there.

The focus of the FQF will be stories and art featuring Auron and another character in a romantic or sexual context. Both slash and het are welcome. (FQFs are traditionally slash- and adult-oriented, but we're broadening our horizons for this fest.) Crossovers and AUs are also fair game. In other words, it doesn't matter who it's with, or how explicit you want to write it - Auron just has to get some lovin'.

So, how does it work?

1. There will be a call for prompts, lasting two weeks. During that time, anyone can suggest story prompts. Suggesting a prompt does not commit you to writing for the fest. Prompts may be a scenario or a pairing.

2. When the first wave of claims opens, community members will comment in the claims post to claim their preferred prompt. There can only be one fic claim and one art claim per prompt for the first wave. Participants can only have one claim at a time. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.

3. Writers and artists will have two months to complete their contribution. Fic must have a minimum of 800 words - no drabbles, please (a chain of 8 drabbles that flow together is acceptable). Finished works may be posted at any time to the community once the wave has opened. This is, after all, an ongoing celebration of Auron!

4. After you have filled your first prompt, you may take on another prompt that hasn't already been claimed. As a participant completes a prompt, they may claim another prompt with no limit until the end of the first wave.

5. After the first wave is concluded, a second wave will allow authors and artists to pick prompts that had already been claimed, so there can be multiple fics and art pieces for any particular prompt. There is no need to claim for this wave - it's a free-for-all!

We're still working out the full schedule for the fest. The call for prompts will happen sometime in June or July, so feel free to join the community to be kept up-to-date on the latest information on the fest.
